Thursday 20th August - bike ***** - Felixstowe circuit including breakfast at the water ski jetty – sunny and hot.

My initial plan was to meet Andy Mexome at Levington Marina for a foiling session but we woke to light winds so we quickly decided to take our breakfast to the picnic benches at the water ski jetty on the River Deben even though it was later than we usually go! We Weetabix, fruit and flask packed we leave home around 8.45, skirt the Grove park to Marsh lane where we follow a tractor all the way to Kings Fleet so no birds about today! Then up onto the Deben path we have wall to wall sunshine with no one in sight, just lovely:) All the paths have been recently cut as we reach our breakfast destination and are treated to a display of diving Turns, with the winds from our backs it was very pleasant sitting in the sun enjoying our cuppa even if there were a lot of small black flies keen to kill themselves in the hot drink! We have a video call from our son Rob with Grandson Arlo and then I phone my sister for an update on my Dad in hospital. We have to wait for the grass cutting machine to pass before setting off again with the kestrel still flying along in front of us searching for a meal. With the breeze still fairly light we decide to carry onto Kirton Creek before following bridle ways and paths back to Felixstowe. So another top bike ride covering 13 miles being out for 3 hours 15 minutes and with the wind still light it did not look promising for a windsurf today so I do my exercises in the back garden.
